Jessica is a homeschooling mother, former public school teacher, and the creator behind Calm Start Homeschool, a resource dedicated to helping families confidently begin their homeschool journey.

She earned her Master of Arts in Teaching with distinction in 2017 and spent five years teaching in the public school system. While she loved her students and the joy of teaching, she became increasingly discouraged by the limitations of the system and the growing challenges facing students in traditional classrooms. Over time, she saw firsthand how many children were being pushed into academic expectations before they were developmentally ready, often leading to frustration, anxiety, and a loss of confidence in their ability to learn.

When her own child began experiencing those same struggles, Jessica made the life-changing decision to step outside the traditional education system and begin homeschooling her family. What started as a leap of faith quickly became one of the greatest blessings for her family. Homeschooling allowed them to slow down, rediscover the joy of learning, and build an education centered around curiosity, creativity, and real-life experiences.

Today, Jessica is passionate about helping other families navigate the transition into homeschooling with clarity and confidence. Through Calm Start Homeschool, she provides simple guides and practical resources designed to remove overwhelm and help parents take their first steps into homeschooling without fear.

Jessica lives in Middle Georgia with her husband, MJ—her high school sweetheart—and their children. When she isn’t creating homeschool resources, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, working on their small homestead, and building a life centered around learning, freedom, and family.

Her mission is simple: to help families realize that homeschooling doesn’t have to be complicated—and that parents are more capable than they think.
